Hello, I'm Devin - Creator of DAM Studio
Let's see. I started as a classical style artist, although always with a dark twist, Originally known as Scott Phillips. I went to Kamiakin High and graduated in 1986. That's over now. My choices in music and art was more of an old school punk. My influences where BauHaus, Kiss, Christian Death, Alice Cooper. Etc. Over the years my social label went from Punk to Industrial then to goth. I have not changed much in what I enjoyed. But how society labeled me has.
I went to CBC and Green River Community College. Taking fine arts and performing arts classes. Never really focusing on a specific field. My only art job I tried for specifically was to be a comic book artist. Finally developing "The Immortal" and later involving this character in the current comic the EDGE. A science fiction, Horror, Superhero story. After many years of trying to get it published and getting comments like. IT'S TO DARK. I decided to try a more focused area of art.
I went to Seattle Art Institute and started my Computer Animation degree. In 1997 the classes included a lot of Video and Audio classes. My only previous musical experience Is in grade school I played the Bass a little. But had decided to work in visual arts. So I gave it up.
While going to school I noticed how much good work was being done. Work that the public would never see. Both mine and others. So I started looking for a show on public access that would show such work. None there I finally decided to create my own. So was born D.A.M. Studio (digital, analog, multimedia).
Since then we won 2 NW regional awards and a National Level Award for Video Art. Had to go to Washington DC to pick that one up.
Since then I took a little time - 3 years - working with some independant film companies in Canada and Here. Now I've decided to come back where it started to complete the circle.
Now I'm here in the Tri-Cities. And you should watch our show, participate with your art. As we continue television production as we prepare some scripts and our equipment for some of our own independant films.
